First use Blackland Dart - Thoughts / help

Hi Guys,
Hope everyone is well and staying safe.

Pressed the button and purchased the Blackland Dart and it’s arrived today. Not that I need another razor tbh. But was so impressed with the Vector I have, thought go for it.

Have done the usual reviews on YouTube and in line and there’s so many conflicting reports on use, method etc.

So was looking for some advice from my esteemed colleagues here on ATG.

I am a regular user if a R41 and enjoy using it immensely, so my question is - is it similar in feel . More aggressive ? And should I alter my technique ???

Your help would be greatly appreciated 🥴

Cheers
Mark

I found it smoother then the R41 (both versions) but not a favorite of mine. Blackland has many great razors but this one was not in my top 10. YMMV

I also find it smoother than the R41 and equally if not more efficient. Some people seem to find it too aggressive, but I find if you take your time with it you'll get a super close shave. It works from shallow to steep angles but if you do find it agressive, then keeping at a steep angle will tame it somewhat. Gillette Platinum works very well in it for me but YMMV.

Thanks very for the great advice 👍🌟 much appreciated. Have some GPS ... was thinking to put a green Derby in so relatively milder blade ? My usual go to is Perma Sharp.

If you're used to using the R41, then I'd stick with your usual blade. The Dart feels smoother in use so take your time, use a super light touch and find your preferred aggression level by altering the angle. If you use it exclusively for a week or two you'll really get it dialled in. It's an exceptional razor and can give results way beyond it's price point.

Can't answer the question about the R41, but I find it gives a close shave that enables me to shave again the next day. I shave almost entirely ATG in one pass with touch ups and have had no issues with nicks or cuts. I lean more safety bar than cap with the Dart.
