Hi believe all earlier Simpson brushes had a concave base.

That’s great. I have also measured it and it is spot on. So all in all a bargain. I think I’m going to keep it badger too rather than dig out the knot and go synthetic. That knot feels too nice for that.

Considering as well they must be a few years old they are in fantastic condition.

My knot is great and I love everything about it.
I can't wait to use it tomorrow and get rid of that aged smell.
His feedback is very good and my gut instinct tells me everything is what he says it is.
I am pleased I was enabled on this one ha ha.
I wonder what year it could be dated from?

Been on google. The Coates reference seems to indicate it could be a Simpsons Somerset era brush. Seems to be that it would have been made by Simpsons as Coates made toothbrushes etc but not shaving brushes. That concave base may be an indication but I can’t find any reference.

I'm now reading that the LaSC contain many different fragrance oils. God help me

With 46mm loft and diameter 20, the lather in the third pass should be invisible 🫥

I couldn't resist buying this vintage unused Simpsons Milk Churn brush, it was a bargain and smells every bit of it's age.
It even came wrapped in 1958 paper ha ha.
