I've been enthused about the recent interest in Artist Club holders and blades. There are more postings in SOTD of RBSR's. Hopefully this new and renewed interest will cause others to consider. I know these holders are expensive, but there are inexpensive, less than $30, holders available including online barber supply outlets.

The new one @chazt has coming that accepts injector blades is of particular interest.

Todays shave consisted of two passes being mindful of my beard mapping. I didn't linger on one area and settled for a DFS. The AC Feather Super Pro has now been for 13 shaves. I can't decide, nor do I need to, if I prefer the Western folding type or Japanese Kamisori. Both are fun and effective.

Any RBSR that accepts AC blades can be used with injector blades. I have only Personna injectors that are too harsh for my skin (the AS splash doesn't burn, it chars instantly), and i'm waiting for anoportunity to order Proline B-20 blades so i can use my Schick adjustable without being charred by the AS lotion... I tried the Personna injector in all my clones and the DX, felt the best in the IBC shavette clone, but the effect on the skin was the same...

@Estariol if you’re referring to the white plastic dispensers, it’s been my experience that those Personna injector blades are not as sharp as the Prolines or sChick blades. Both are sharper and smoother than the Personna blades, my personal preference being the Prolines.

Unfortunately the blades are too thick to slide them in all the way and tend to go out of the holder, and if you try prying the holder open, it will bend or stay open and won't be able to hold any blade tightly... Ruined one of the two i have with prying it open...

Yup, those are the ones...

In that case I might try the clone and that just has the gripping mechanism - or maybe at some point one of the actual shavettes for injectors. Thanks for the pointers. It's very helpful not having to travel down the routes you have travelled and refind out your conclusions. Cheers.

I have this and also the 112 which is a half blade. It's much easier to use under the nose. It's an excellent shavette to use with speed. The guy I follow on YouTube for shavette shaving recommended it. It has a better blade loading mechanism too

Not to mention the risk of cutting your fingers... The clone you have works just fine with injector blades.

Vanta RA111 Shavette, White — Maggard Razors

I have one, the half-blade variation. Just a small warning, ALWAYS check that the blade sits flat on the holder, and that it sits inside the small pins in the corner area, because not all DE blades are cut out exactly identically. Can't remember anymore, but i know that all Gillette blades and Perma-sharp fit well, and some other blades simply can't be fitted properly.
On some blades, the parts/cut-outs marked with the red circles on the image below are shallower, and those won't fit in MY Vanta, so be mindful of that.

Thank you for the warning @Estariol. I had watched a video which provided the same warning.

I am curious how a Kai would provide a different experience. I will be most interested in hearing from @chazt tomorrow or when he has the opportunity to use his incoming Kai with wood scales.

I’ll be using a 14 use Super Professional in the much maligned SS today. The photo in includes a rabbit foot fern from a long gone friend’s mother, my grandfather’s Embury lantern sitting on a well used and loved oak table. Those dried things as garlic blooms.

Just to follow up post shave, The Super Professional is still effective. I did a third pass ATG on my cheeks, which was felt when the Aqua Velva was applied. It was an unnecessary pass, but the ATG on my chin using two hands paid off well. @Mark12 mentioned the tender area around the chin for which I share the same tender or thin skin. I always use a light touch and two hands when going against the grain right below the bottom lip. A SR always leaves my face feeling good.

Has anyone used the pink Feather Softguard blades. These are apparently the mildest of the bunch according to AI.
