I must say, as I started getting older I saw myself walking to the mailbox with a walker just to go back inside, sit down pet my cat and work on my puzzle. I was pleased to find such a fun hobby. I was older when I discovered them, probably in my 30s but you learn something every day just from reading and listening

I need to apologize to you gentleman, I may have a form of dementia and I just ramble on sometimes. I know it probably gets irritating. feel free to tell me to shut up.

So, it is not as if we must use the less wide razors today. My small but significant collection ranges from 4/8 to a 15/16 Herder. I enjoy them all.

Does anyone think the wider razors are easier, no difference, or harder to strop?

Certainly, nobody has said anyone must use smaller sized razors as we have a choice today. I have a collection of straight razors that run roughly the same size range as you. I have used them all but do prefer certain ones. As far as stropping goes, I don't recall that there was much difference between the sizes.

I also found the wet sponge idea on another forum quite a few years ago, by an older gent who was a long time straight shaver.. I've been using it ever since..
In keeping with my traditional values, I'd love to use natural sponge, but I buy grout sponges from Home Depot three at a time. They get cut up a wee bit, but not too bad!

As for stropping, size doesn't matter to me.. The only ones that slow me down a bit are thumb notches and blades with very loose pivots.

wuckily my wisp is bairwee noticeable while twexting. had it not been for that twaving accident my talking and twexting would be normal
if the bad joke police come looking, I was never here. and if I was here I was Guido from Newark. lol. maybe I should have watched a video of how to shave LOL. I have a terrible time with my chin I have always been a fan of the goatee though LOL

For ATG on the chin, I use two hands with one on the blade tip. This provides better control.

Speaking of J.R. Torrey razors, their "OUR 136" is one of the most attractive razors ever made, IMHO. I'll post an example.

I happen to agree with you about the attractiveness of the design. I've got one of those "OUR 136" coming in the mail. It has tortoiseshell scales, and a leather case with stropping inserts built in. Not sure how useful those actually are, but it ups the 'coolness' factor of the whole package a bit.
