Extreme sharpness is ephemeral!
I couldn't ever buy into that, seems like something a new-age traveller does, so for that reason I'm definitely out. PS I bet it's massive in California that's where all the crazy people in the US seem to hail from, I'm including my crazy aunt Barbara from Sherman Oaks among them.

To the OP, can't be much to lose by taking your shoes off and wriggling your toes about in the grass or some mud. Doesn't even seem outlandish when you think about it. I wouldn't bat an eyelid at not wearing shoes at a beach, round the house or in the summer in my own garden. I'd say the perceptions of others out and about may deter many from operating barefoot elsewhere.
Good luck with it, i say. Let us know how you get on.

I tend to do this for most of the year, just because I prefer it.
I like to feel things.
Around the house, in the garden etc etc.
Not so much atm cos my tootsies get too cold.

Also, it toughens the feet up a bit, so when you are at the beach or somewhere, you can walk a bit more sensibly rather than that sort of totter we do on sharp stones.
Also, it saves me keep slipping shoes on and off when in and out the garden/garage.

Sounds like pseudo-science to me, but it's harmless. I'd not be rushing out to buy special mats though, they definitely sound like snake-oil. The placebo effect has been well-documented and also walking barefoot just feels nice, and that has its own benefits, so I don't doubt it can be beneficial.

Your comment makes me chuckle.
You are making a solid statement based on zero scientific or personal research.
It is exactly the same as someone who buys into something blindly.
Couple of golden rules

1. Don't criticise other people's personal lifestyle choices

2. Don't comment, especially in public, on matters where you have no personal experience. If it is a subject that you understand then a PM in the first instance never does any harm.

@Grarea I am sure that I speak for those who remain open minded on subjects that are new to us, we look forward to hearing of your experiences and the benefits of Earthing.

I actually have no opinion on the matter.
The reason I have no opinion on the matter is because I have never looked into it.
I have barely heard of it.
I definitely have not read into any research or people's experiences.
I am also interested in what people have to say about it though.

As I say, I do like to walk bare foot for a chunk of the year.
It does give me an amount of pleasure.
Part of that is pure laziness going in and out of the garage and garden :)
Part of it being enjoying experiencing different textures and temperatures.
Part of it liking being able to walk on less forgiving surfaces.

I don't know if any of my liking it is down to earthing.
I do like to be in touch a bit with what is happening around me.
I like to walk and cycle places all year round.
Experience the different weathers.
I find it odd that people think rain is so awful. Stick a coat on.
Some people go from heated house to heated car to heated office.
I do think there is something to be said for letting your system experience different seasons/temperatures etc.
Feel the sun on you, feel the rain, the wind etc.

I definitely don't feel the cold as much as many other people.
Or it might be that I wear a jumper :)
