Do you dunk?

I grew up a dunker, have not partaken in such activities for twenty something years. I do love biscuits though, I could inhale a packet of chocolate hobnobs like oxygen!

Dunking a bickkie is one of life's little pleasures. Chocolate biscuits must be dunked in strong coffee and the chocolate licked off before devouring said biscuit. Strangely I can't abide sugar in my drink but I'll happily do a few biscuits with my coffee.

I've just rediscovered my love of ginger nuts. The Tower Gate brand from Lidl are very good indeed.

Where I live a biscuit is served with gravy. Or fried chicken.

What we Americans call a cookie, is called a biscuit in the U.K.

What we call a biscuit is more likely to be called a scone, bun, or roll. Though none of those is exactly like an American biscuit. Scones are harder and denser, and usually are topped with sugar and fruit. Rolls and buns are softer and sweeter than an American biscuit.

And since we are on the topic, American style scones (oh yes, those are different too) most closely resemble the British Rock Cakes.

I need to brush up on my hot tea game though. Lots of great suggestions on the subject here I have been reading about and enjoying.

I'm still trying to decide how to respond to DB's poll, because I do happen to dunk...my Oreo's in milk and on rare occasions, a donut in coffee. However, the only thing I generally dunk in tea is whisky, and that only on days when I can see my breath fog in the morning.

I had the misfortune to eat a US 'biscuit' once. It was quite a few years ago. If my memory isn't shot, at Popeyes at Würzburg PX. Chicken n biscuits, WTF! exclaimed the young Yorkshireman. I didn't know whether to eat them or save them for packing war wounds.
