I have a modest collection, but I've noticed a couple of razors getting used less and less.

I'm considering selling my Black Standard and my Ikon. Although I really like the ikon the OC baseplate is too aggressive and I could replace it with an OSS.

I only have 4 or 5 soaps at a time but there's loads I want to try.

I'm probably not the worst among us, but I have to keep me through next year and then some... These are the ones "in use" or of recent date.

Something has "value" only when you use it and cherish it.

It may -for example- be a shockingly beautiful and solid Simpsons Chubby 2 Two-Band Super, but if you prefer boar brushes then it sits and collects dust so to speak. Its monetary value may be some few good hundred Pounds, but for the person not using it the real value is zero. At least this is my take on the matter.

An exception can be something of sentimental value, the possession of which is understandable. However the same rule applies - if you don't enjoy it, if you don't live it day after day, then what is the purpose of keeping it.

Took me 7 wet shaving years and in excess of £35k to realise that, but now I can say I've learned my lesson.



So the answer is "no".

I only have a problem finding razors that suit once I find them I'll happily buy them, keep them and use them.

The only bit of gear I have difficulty culling is my brushes. Currently I own 35 brushes and last month I identified 4 to sell. So far, however, I've only listed and sold one of the 4 and I have yet to list the other 3. I'd really like to half my brush collection, but other than the 4 aforementioned I just can't make up my mind which ones I can live without.

I've had a couple of clear outs so far, down to just one or two of everything and after a couple of weeks I start buying again... It seems the thrill is in the chase

I use all my razors... some more than others, but they all get used.

My problem area is soaps. Over a year ago, I gave away quite a few in two lots to new gents just starting out. A few folks were very good to me when I started, and I wanted to give back in kind. So, I got down to what I liked, and started buying again .. I'm now in the same position I was before. Unfortunately, I only like to use what I really like .. I keep the others in hopes that I will someday like them more than I do now. I'm due for another giveaway very soon ... Why?? Because there are new soaps I want to buy!

It's a vicious cycle!!
