I may we'll try gluing, but the problem is there's a little bit missing that I can't find. Doh!

Just fill the missing bit with glue. A type of epoxy resin should do the job.

A decent epoxy putty will sort that. I've used Milliput successfully in the past. AFAIK they make a black version.
