Coarse beard wet shaving challenge

Dears,

I have been wet shaving for over 10 years, with varying results over time, not always consistent.
I tend to have a coarse beard, made it worse by the high use of A/C during the night (I live in Panama). Usually shaving every morning.

I tried so many things: different razors (now sticking to a Feather AS-D2), blades, soaps and technique. Still results were mixed, with frequent nicks on my neck and burns in the same region.

After many years, I recently discovered the best solution for me: a layer of oil and a good pre-shave softening cream.

This has greatly improved my shaving experience; nicks are now non-existant and my skin if softer and shaving is great. I hope this might help other with similar coarse beard.

Of course, but AS-D2 is am extremely mild razor.
