As for brainwashing, I'm the exact opposite. As a psychologist it's my job to analyse facts and behaviour, not to persuade but to do the opposite - to decipher spin and turn it back into fact.

You really, really, don't know me at all.

I'm off to watch the snooker. Or to engage in any other meaningful activity that's on a higher level than this. Like washing the dishes or changing the bedclothes.

...just come back to this thread and I see there has been a lively, robust and mostly constructive exchange, I think threads where members can express opposing views are great!. On to your question and you did ask me a few others in the thread - firstly I admire your passion, belief and desire for real change. I believe that climate change maybe an existential threat to humanity especially if the predictions regarding feedback loops are correct; where I may differ from you is that I believe we passed the tipping point some time ago. Call me a cynic and I am embarrassed to say it maybe correct, but I am not at all sure that humanity can unite to bring about the change required in the time frame required. That does not mean people should not try to do so. As you have detailed in previous posts, in a roundabout way, individual change will not be enough. What is required is policy change on a global scale and that means no fossil fuels, no livestock farming, no excessive consumption ( and yes, I am guilty of buying far too many razors, brushes and soaps). What we are talking about is radical, profound change in the way we live, it does not mean raping the planet so we can switch to electric cars. I am of an age where I tend to think when humanity reaches the cliff edge, rather than walking back, I fear it will walk over it. Keep up the good fight!

The way I see it, the Earth is definitely going though it’s cycle. Are we accelerating that, yes.
Will it wipe out mankind, yes, regardless of what we do.
So we need to look at The Moon, Mars etc long term

The last thing any other planet that we know of needs is Human beings. We only know how to destroy. We cannot be allowed to inflict ourselves on another planet.
