Creams like proraso are still basically just soap, just not a hard puck/stick/bar.
So what is the true scientific definition of soap VS cream vs croap? If its not viscosity. Having gone through saponification can't be the only true measure of something being a soap

Soap is just fat mixed with either sodium hydroxide for solid soaps, or potassium hydroxide and water for liquid soaps. If you omit water when mixing fats with potassium hydroxide, you should get a pasty sort of soap.

I reckon croap vs cream mostly differ in how much water they contain.
I think the fats used somewhat affect the final consistency, but I'm not sure to what extent.

For what's it worth, I think "cream" for a soap is a bit of a misnomer, because it's called as such due to its consistency, more than for what it is.

There are actual shaving creams which contain no soap, but they're usually basically "butters", i.e. mostly fats.
See e.g. this post for an example of those: https://teachbesideme.com/easy-homemade-shave-butter-mom-dad/

Second attempt on Sunday then? :D

I find that a good way to watch myself is the length of the stroke. I prefer very short strokes, as it allows me to deal curvature of my face and neck more easily.
I also try to keep my breathing relaxed and synchronise stroke speed with it.
I don't use shavettes much, but when I do, this approach always works well for me.
Second attempt with the Univinlions on Sunday indeed.
With a bit more concentration (I DE/SE shave without thinking) and without cocky shenanigans, I got a very respectable two pass shave without any bloodletting.
I think the Feather SS had more grip though or is that my memory letting me down?

With my SS, I can’t remember thinking of a grip ness per say. The only alteration is with my thumb and first finger.

Third attempt with the Univinlions. Good again.

I'm wondering what people are using as head protectors?
Will those for other razors fit or do I need to design and 3D print my own?

I've really enjoyed my last 3 shaves with the Feather clone. Schick P3 blades being my favourite option. Looking forward to the Tedalus landing on my doorstep soon too, especially as the head size is similar to my Japanese SR's. Never thought I would return to shavette razors after my Parker half DE experience (early days).

Which one was it?
I only have two Parker half-DE blade shavettes but they've been really nice for me.
It was a Parker 31R purchased on 22nd Jan 2013 according to Amazon. I think it was mainly a technique issue as it was early days in my shaving career. However I do believe the blade plays a major part and I am more comfortable shaving with the AC blades in a shavette.

@Nishy , in my modest and personal experience, it's more blade exposure, blade rigidity, and personal proficiency if there is a lack of experience.
