Chickens- quality and appearance.

I do on occasions like to have a Chicken Roast. But since last years problems with Avian Flu I have not been tempted to purchase one, as most of the ones in supermarkets seem rather scrawny and do not resemble the plump better quality ones that used to be on sale.
I wonder if anyone else has thought the same as me, and has been put off doing a Roast. I did buy one this Weekend from a popular store, and though looking better than others that I viewed, for the price I paid it was rather disappointing in taste and texture.
Perhaps in future I will buy the occasional bird online from a Poultry Farm, maybe pricey but from past experience know it will be value for money.

I can’t say iv ever thought them scrawny but if they arnt pumped full of water & steroids then i’m fairly happy.
Most supermarkets sell
6 month old birds that resemble 2 year olds.
The food industry has been fooling the public since day 1 & chicken is no different
