Castle Forbes Creams - QUESTION?

My Castle Forbes Lime is on its last little bits. I love that one.
Fresh and proper lime scent. Great for the summer.
Will I replace it? That is such a tough question...
I will really miss it, but I could try another Castle Forbes scent. The lavender didn't do it for me. Wrong variety of lavender. Not like my childhood.
But: I have soooo many soaps/creams still left from when I was a crazy wetshaver. They should go first... (I stopped compulsive spending years ago)
Most of those are getting quite old though. Maybe just stick with Castle Forbes for summer and Tabac for winter?
It's what I do anyway... There is a week left in the Castle Forbes... Let's not rush things...

Oh... is Castle Forbes overpriced? Hell, no!
I’m in the same boat as you, I’ve stopped buying anything for 2-3 years now just dwindling down my stocks. I have though always had a Castle Forbes cream in my rotation. It is just so luxurious and the scents are wonderful. I too think it’s good value, they use high quality ingredients. I’d rather buy a tub of their cream than blow my money on a night out on the beer.

Junk cheap soap is mostly junk.

Not necessarily. Some soaps perform well and they are cheap. Not dirt cheap, but cheap enough for almost everyone to buy.

I have two Castle Forbes creams. Lime and Lavender. I like both scents. But I've found that performance in terms of slickness has been less than expected when comparing to other high end soaps and creams. I do find tallow based soaps to be the best performers for me. I do maintain a large selection of creams and soaps and find that I rarely pull out the Castle Forbes. My only other complaint about CF is that for a "cream" its consistency is more of a soap. I load my soaps in the tub. Creams I scoop. CF is so thick that it takes significantly longer to lather that way than other creams because it takes longer for the cream to soften and dissolve. Maybe that's another reason I don't reach for it as much. But the bottom line for me is I find it is not as slick as other options out there and that's a huge thing for me. My experience is my own.

And that's why I almost always I agree with you

I agree that it doesn’t have the slickness of tallow soaps. Performance wise is decent but nothing exceptional. It gives a very luxurious lather which feels nice but doesn’t offer any real benefit in performance. I do really like the scents they offer though.

A Gillette Tech, Palmolive Stick and a cheap boar brush give all the performance most of us really need but sometimes it’s nice to indulge once in a while.
