Brushing Scam

Another odd one here a friend just contacted me about.

In the post today she has received a letter asking her to get tested for food allergies and intolerances. Along with a printed sheet of paper from TrustPilot for a company called Yorktest. Accompanied by £300 in £20 notes in a CD case. It’s from someone who’s concerned over her health. I feel it’s some sort of scam but a google reveals nothing like it. She’s divorced living with her two kids and a little worried about it. My advice was to get the money checked for forgery and if it’s ok keep it. Think she is reporting it on 101, getting £300 in the post is a concern in my opinion too.
I would be happy enough if someone sent me £300 in the post, unsolicited gifts are yours to keep by law. P.

Another mystery here. Not going to overlook this if i come across these. Considering the seriousness govt of india has already issued official advisory.
I saw In the news someone in the U.K. had received seeds and actually grew them !! What an idiot, so they receive seeds through the post from China and they decide to grew them on, have they ever heard of invasive plants ? First of all how the hell did they even get in the country ? Let’s face it customs have a duty to insure things like this get into the country. It’s no wonder the country is awash with drugs, guns, counterfeit and other illegal goods. But if spend a couple of quid over the allowance they are quick enough to charge me !

While one may discuss back and fourth endlessly about efficacy of our governance but anyone growing these things is beyond me too. Easy to fight an idiot but how does one fight with idiocy? To me, most obvious answer would be, with education; but that again falls on delicate shoulders of governance. Another amiss for them.

I get your point about checking what's coming in to the country. I'd think with the amount of stuff we all order from outside the UK that it's not feasible to check the contents of every package. Probably "intelligence" based. To be honest though, not sure if sending seeds across borders is restricted unless they were for plants that were somehow illegal/restricted.

Covered here

I would hope they would be restricted as not being certified. The seeds are coming marked as something else none seed related.

Ah, OK. Guess the intelligence bit would be working out that the earrings aren't really earrings then.

Just remembered this thread as I have this morning received a parcel via APC... Wasn't expecting anything, or at least couldn't remember placing any orders so I thought I'd open it up and see what's what.

Inside was this book: https://www.a4medicine.co.uk/produc...d-essential-general-practice-family-medicine/

I didn't order it, I've never heard of it and I've never even visited the website it comes from? And yet the parcel was addressed in my name  Checked my accounts and there is nothing missing, no unexpected transactions etc so I'm totally stumped what on earth it's doing here.

Ha, yes maybe for someone but not me! Had a quick flick through and it's very dull.

I've emailed to inform them of the error... if they want to collect it that's up to them, if it's still here in September it can go on eBay lol.
