Very nourishing and the touch of menthol is a lovely soother for anything that's taken a little abuse.

Greetings Rob.. I personally find no lotions and potions work that well for for me, if I have serious razor burn (which is almost never these days) Just put your razor down for a day or two and save yourself some cash. That's just my 2p mind.. other than that, ice cold showers and lifting BIG weights is a panacea for most ills I find..maybe I'm weird.

I love SV products but I can’t get along with their balms. I’ve tried the 70th Anniversary, which turned in a firm jelly and became unusable. I also bought the Tundra Artica balm and wasn’t a fan of that either as it left my skin very sticky.

If you want something very pure and soothing. Pure aloe vera gel is very good, you can buy it already made up or, if you can be bothered, get yourself a mature aloe vera plant, and take the gel directly from the leaves, works out cheaper in the long run and I've got one at home growing nicely.

Germolene is not the scent I really want to be projecting on a Saturday night.....then again I suppose it would cover the stench of desperation I normal give off.

The ingredient list is class. If you haven't tried it and are after a soother, give it a go bud.

One last punt from me is the proraso protective balm and for razor burn the Proraso Cutting Edge razor burn relief which worked for me.. Let me know if you would like to try them..

If the razor burn is so bad, I doubt that anything will really help apart from natural healing time. You've damaged the skin, much the same as when, say, sunburned - sure, some relief will come from a balm, but the skin has to heal. You could try an ice pack in the worst areas to reduce inflammation.

I'm not a fan of Proraso products. There is something in them which doesn't agree with me.
I was given a load of their soaps and creams from a member on the other forum.

Not sure what I'm going to do with them. I'll do something with them soon.

Great idea the Aloe Vera plant, we have one in the bathroom it seems to thrive there. One of my elderly but very worldly wise aunts told me about using the gel direct from the leaves.

On a purely unscientific basis, I might suggest Naissance Unrefined Shea Butter 250g Certified Organic 100% Pure, from Amazon. Less than a fiver delivered.

Doesn't smell too great and is quite stiff straight out of the tub but I mix it with something else, say an oil like Argan or Grapeseed, even plain old Olive Oil to thin it out a bit ..... or, in my case, a mix of half a dozen different oils combined in one bottle that I've doctored with some Essential Oil to make it smell nice.

The only reason I suggest this is I sat out in the sun last week for a bit longer than I should and did get a bit red in the face - and the Shea Butter, mixed with other oils and stuff (including Bay Rum After Shave - see separate threads) did provide immediate and long lasting soothing and there was no peeling of the skin... the redness went in due course and turned into a bit of a tan.
