Why does it have a DE-type curved cap?
One of my favourite features of my 1912 (and other SE razors) is that (once shimmed) I can put the flat cap flat on my face and I have the correct angle.
A curved cap on a GEM blade SE razor is a design fail IMHO. Maybe a pass around will prove me wrong, but I doubt it.

The top cap is symmetrical & can be fitted either way. Unsure if that is a help or solving a problem that doesn't exist?
I guess the design intent (if there is one) will show through in use, it looks like, keep the ribs to the face & you're cooking.
