Of course I'm guessing, but I'd imagine the R2 like you have, Wayne, would be much the same for aggressiveness as the Rocket and Progress I mentioned earlier.

Maybe I could have went a step down the scale from the H2 to the R2 but I have this one now and I think it'll be grand as long as I always pay attention. Another maybe, but the H2 could be giving me the better shave of the two, anyway, because it is that bit sharper. Let's hope I'm right with that idea.

If I got into thinking about various ATT levels all that, too much, I'd end up with eight or ten razor heads and a bit of debt :giggle:

If you like an aggressive razor feel then you have the right one.

I actually prefer the H1 over the R2. In terms of OC feel with regards to the Timeless, SE2 and Wolfman in particular the teeth are too apparent on the R2, the rest have a better balance between teeth and blade feel (IMO). However, the H2 isn't as rough as you would imagine (considering the R2 is probably around a four on a Progress) definitely more efficient and two passes is suffice (my preference).

I totally agree with you, Nishy. The H2 actually feels smooth on the face for such an aggressive razor and I never once 'felt' the teeth from the open comb. Compared to another (more) aggressive razor I've used, the earlier Muhle R41, I would say I felt much safer and in control. The blade on the Muhle felt like it was nearly detached from the head and downright dangerous whereas this H2 feels efficient without being at all risky. And the shave finish is as good. Again like you, I thought the second pass was enough - but I would have no fears in going a third if it was a special occasion.

After day in day out use for a while now I think that I'll mention the blades with the Above The Tie Kronos H2.

With all my most used razors, the Merkur 39C slant, the Gillette Red Tip Rocket and the Merkur Progress, I have found Astra SP and Feather blades to be equally superb. No doubt the Feather is sharper but it never gave me any irritation, weepers or poor skin afterwards. I love using both of them.

Now, having said that, my ATT H2 is different. For me, this razor does not agree with Feather blades. I have used them enough times with several lathers to know for sure. Now, to their credit, I don't have any irritation or poor skin afterwards but the shave had noticeably more blade feel and always gives me those tiny little red dot weepers. And I never have them, not a one (including all the razors I have named when using Feathers). Yet, I always have these buggers with the H2 and Feather. On the other hand, the Astra SP is every bit as good a shave and I have yet to have a single weeper.

Overall, the H2 razor has been excellent and I'm really impressed. Come the weekend, I'm off to start shaving with my ATT SE2 Bamboo single edge. I'm really keen now to see if the same thing happens there with the sharper Feather and the slightly milder Kai

I would suggest a Shark blade with the H2 and it may be mild but the Kai Pro Touch is excellent with the SE2.

Also try the Atlas handle with the SE2 very good pairing.

I agree with @Nishy on this one. I prefer the Shark Chrome over the Shark stainless. The Shark Chrome just feels smoother. The Kai Protouch MG or Kia Mild are both worthy of a try.

Thanks for the advice about SE blades, fellas. I'm looking forward to starting out on that adventure, from Friday or Saturday.

Well, I've been a two brand blade shaver for quite a few years and never strayed. This afternoon I got the parcel with my Kai SE blades (including the Kai DE Stainless Steel which I must try later) and I also got the gift of a packet of blades. The Feathers are no good to me in the H2 and the Astras are excellent. I thought "why not?", opened the pack and had a shave with the blade without reading a word about it online. At least as good, if not a wee bit better, than the Astra as I think they were that bit smoother. I'm impressed :okay:

And this is a dirty word for most DE shavers - Derby. Not the usual Extra ones, the Premium. Why did I do it? First impressions mean a lot to me and I was so impressed with the packaging, I felt they just they had to be good - and they were! Of course, they're maybe not for every razor, I dunno, but they shaved great with this aggressive H2 and it's fantastic to have something so random work out great :notworthy:
