It’s a sieve which is used to sparge. So the grain sits in a bag in the water boiler, it’s then raised up out of the water, and the sieve helps slowly drain fresh water through the grain, to wash out the last bits of sugars.

It’s the Biab method, and can be setup for around £100.

The Braumeister next to it is £1200, and produces marginal better beer, but due to computer control, it’s repeatable again and again.

That is impressive, I see now, very clever. Yes that is a good way to go for repeatability, and though expensive I bet it's worth every penny.

I did the same recently in an attempt to get myself to go to bed at a reasonable time. I also went with goosedown but decided on brush cotton sheets, pillow cases and duvet cover. I was going to bed at 2am every night and now aim for 11pm, it has certainly worked at getting me to my nest, though I now lay there from 11pm til 2am reading. LOL
Go to bed at 8pm

I've recently got back into taking snaps with my camera, after the acquisition of a slightly longer-reaching lens.
Now I'm finding myself looking at lenses on an almost daily basis. Dang.

Edit: And guitar; played for around 14 years now, but recently not picked it up as much. Keeping an eye out for a cheap, good amp as mine recently packed in and sang no more.

I bought an 18-270mm Tamron. For the kind of shooting I do, it is the perfect do it all lens.

Blackstar get good reviews as do the boss katana series. I can't believe how good the little practice amps are now compared to the last one I had that I got when I first started... a world of difference.

The Pentax 18-135mm is great for me. Weather resistant, as is the K-S2 body I have, so no harm taking it out in the rain or down the beach.
Am sorely tempted to get a quick prime lens - something like a 50mm f/1.8 or 35mm f/2.4... hmm. That is, after I decide what route to go down for the longer lens - liking the look of the 55-300mm WR PLM lens for the Pentax (again, weather resistant) but it's a little price prohibitive right now!

Agreed - started with a Fender Frontman 15 which was just awful. Well, not for practicing. It did it's job and lasted well but didn't sound good.
I'm enjoying the look of the Blackstar HT-1 and HT-5 right now. Will have to have a look at the Boss Katana series as they do get mentioned a fair amount. Thanks for the pointer!

Into the flyfishing for trout and salmon.

Love just getting away from it all, definitely therapeutic.

Another expensive hobby mind you.
I hadn't fly fished for about 15 years until the weekend before last when my son hired a guide and took me fly fishing. It was great and after a bit of coaching from the guide it started to come back to me. By lunchtime I had caught 9 brown trout, 7 of which I landed; it was catch and release so I have only photos to support my claim. It was such good fun that my son and I will out there again soon.

Was this at a lake?

I only fish rivers now and all the catch goes back, fishing is simply for fun now.
Like riding a bike it all comes back to you.

No it was the Grand River just outside Fergus, Ontario, Canada. Although the water was quite cold we waded wearing hip waders.

It's a good feeling doing stuff like this, especially when it works well. Well done.
Just as one example, my modern Squier Telecaster went from this:

to this, a semi replica of a '51 "nocaster", that brief period between Broadcaster and Telecaster, when the guitar had no model name and just said Fender on it.

Only the wood is original now. And even that had to be modified for the vintage style hardware to fit.
