Smear all of it into a wider brimmed something and don't be afraid of loading. That should get you closer to the real deal from the pot Nuavia comes in. I faced exactly the same issue.

And as for Barbershop and Aventus, I remember receiving samples from Mike at the same time as a lot from Stirling. Indeed, I found Mike's Barbershop similar to Executive Man, which is an Aventus dupe. They at least share bergamot in the top, and I'd say quite a few of the Aventus base notes fit well with general barbershop ones, including patchouli, moss, musk. To me, Mike's version of Barbershop is a lot fresher and fruitier than most others of the same name. (This theorising all from memory, I never got around to ordering full products from Mike's and sample long gone.)

Thank you for confirming that I'm not completely mad :happy:

I'll try again with the Nuavia tomorrow using the method you recommend, I decided mid shave that I'd not used enough product so it wasn't really a fair trial. I no longer have any Classic 24 but do have the little plastic bag & wax paper the sample arrived in which has retained the scent... Sniffing next to Mikes barbershop and I'm 100% certain they are both Aventus imitations, of the two Wickhams has a much stronger scent (and there's not even any soap, I'm just sniffing the paper!)
