It’s been a while since my last update here, and since quite many changes have been made lately, I think it’s time for one.

TL;DR:
Freyja has received further quality upgrades through added manual polishing on all parts, which reduces visible machining marks even more. Caps and baseplates get light manual polishing, handles are polished in a way that preserves the satin finish, and stands are now fully polished. Some customers have already received razors made with these improvements.

At the same time, Nord Razors is still essentially a one-man operation, and each order takes significant time and effort to prepare. Because balancing this with a full-time job has become too demanding, Dawid is stepping away from forums and social media. Going forward, he will only be reachable by email.

Further quality improvements
I constantly collect your feedback and try to improve Freyja as we go. The major improvement in the past was the switch from tumbling to electropolishing. Nevertheless, I still want to deliver more, and that is why, very recently, I decided to introduce a few more steps for all parts, namely manual polishing.

Nowadays, caps and baseplates are subjected to a very short manual polishing process, which helps reduce machining marks even further. The difference is especially noticeable on the top caps, where the circular machining marks are now barely visible.

Handles are not polished on a buffing machine, as this would destroy the satin surfaces. Instead, they are polished with a polishing paste on a bench-top drill.

Stands are now fully polished – this can be done because, unlike with caps and baseplates, we do not care as much about the dimensional tolerances of stands. Their appearance is much more important, hence the full polish.

Some of you have already received razors with these improvements included.

My time
Many of you might not realize this, but Nord Razors is a one-man company, driven entirely by me. Of course, I get ad hoc help from my wife and one subcontractor, but essentially everything related to NR goes through me.

To process one order containing one handle, one cap, and one baseplate takes me around 1–1.5 hours. This includes polishing, removing all imperfections, extensive quality control, cleaning, disinfection, packing, labelling, etc. It is quite a lot of work, but on top of all that, there is also the administrative side of running a tiny business.

As if that were not enough, I also have a regular 9–5 job, which essentially means that I have been sacrificing my personal and family life far too much lately. That’s why processing even one order a day is already a challenge for me.

That is why I have decided to step back from my online presence completely. I will no longer be available here on B&B, nor on any other forum or social media platform. You can still reach me via email, and I will be glad to answer any questions you might have.

This may be one of my last posts here. Thank you all.

Regards,
Dawid

P.S. No, it's not a scratch on the cap, but a paper towel residue.
