A major rant!

I wonder whether the way people wrap/wind the cables for storage doesn't contribute to this as well.
Particularly winding a cable in a way where the cable or its sleeve gets twisted wouldn't help longevity.
This and to a degree probably made to a standard where they have a limited life. They may have to pay a fee to be able to use things like lightning as its Apples patent. Why make them last too long ?

Possibly, but I don't think I've had any of the inexpensive USB-C cables I have fray on me, so perhaps it's down to specific "models".

Probably the biggest thing, my guess, that leads to cable failure is unplugging by pulling on the cord and not the connector. Avoiding hard kinks in the cable at the connector likely helps too.

The only cables I've had crack were laptop charger ones, on the end that plugs into the computer, and only two of them over a period of many years, and they were old and hard. Never had a phone charger wire fail or any other cable.

Message from GP surgeryasking for feedback on getting an appointment. Well, at my GP surgery getting an appointment is like finding rocking horse poo. The whole world is back to normal except for my GP. The waiting room has very few chairs and even a telephone appointment can be difficult. Sometimes they use GP’s who are literally hundreds of miles away. So you can guess my feed back was rather negative.

In the US, it is not so much about getting an appointment as it is about having healthcare benefits or finding someone who takes whatever coverage you have. Then, is the drug or therapies prescribed on your insurance policies formulary?? I've honestly never had those problems myself, but I know about the issues some Americans face.

We are lucky here with the good old NHS. My recent hospital visits I must say were great and the care excellent. BUT my eye issue was down to the steroids my GP had me on, he denies it, his manager supports him. However three eye consultants at the hospital, five opticians, and two people at the eye clinic all say the steroids were the root of the problem.

I hadn't heard of this connection between cataracts and steroids. Dr Google confirms your advices that there is a link and typically the problem is rapid acting, months not years.

Is indeed months. At one stage my distance prescription in the cataract eye was changing by 5-6 stages every six months. Driving at night was difficult as oncoming lights felt so bright. Then there was the rainbow coloured halos. It states on the slip for The steroids that it can cause rapid cataract growth. Even after coming off them the cataract developed at a rapid rate as the steroids stay in the system. I was on 400mg nasal a day.

Oh dear ! I bundle along at work, go with the flow, I will help anyone, do anything I am asked. However I do have a snapping point. Yesterday afternoon and this morning pushed me over the edge. I won’t rant on, but basically I told my manager his communication skills need to improve. Brave ? Foolish ? NO he knows it too.

It’s all down to the way people handle cables - most are oafs / heavy handed. I used to look after microphone cables and would rather no one ‘helped’ me wind them up after a gig.
Agreed. A simple, “No thanks, I’m good.” and you’ve saved yourself from hassle and headache.
