Xmas Day Lunch - Eating out ?

Have been out for a couple of Pub Lunches recently, and note that they seem to be starting to serve Festive meals from mid Nov, and most do a Xmas Day Meal from around £ 79 upwards per Adult.

I am not quite sure of the Appeal of a meal out on Xmas Day, especially as unlikely to be as good as Home Cooked if sticking to Turkey. We in fact have our Meal on Xmas Eve, on Xmas Day have cold cuts and bits and bobs making for a relaxed day.

I wonder what people think of this fairly new practice, it seems to be an expensive option for most Families.

It's never sat right with me to have Christmas dinner out as people are having to work for our convenience (like shopping on a Sunday, never use to be a thing).

But for the past few years I have done the Christmas pub lunch and to start with, at £45 per head, seemed reasonable.
But the last couple of years the quality have been disappointing and getting more expensive.
So it's a NO this year and I'll be cooking lunch

Only once I have been out for Christmas dinner, I enjoyed it, although I'm not much of a Christmas fan, I treat it like any other day personally.

Agree 100%. Love waking up Christmas morning sit down with the Mrs and kids and open the pressies. Lunch, relax, cold meats for tea, relax and drinking slowly all day. We have already ordered our usual rib of beef.

We always have lunch at home but our eldest son has been asked to work in his pub/restaurant so we’ll eat later.
Double time for him and hopefully good tips?
they are charging £90 a head!

Based upon what I've seen on the "what's the dinner tonight" thread....... I'd make reservations at the Mahoney's house...... it always looks amazing.
