What's your preferred travel set up

I do too. Arko and Palmolive shave sticks are among my favourite shave soaps, the Merkur 45c one of my favourite DEs giving a very close comfortable shave and the synthetic Muhle travel brush is another favourite of mine. There is no need to compromise on enjoyment of a great shave while travelling with the possible exception of travel by air and using a cart disposable to avoid hassles. The cart bit really sucks for me.

I tend to just pack one of my razors with a few blades in a mint tin. Then just take one aftershave with my muhle synthetic brush.

Synthetics are great for travelling add they dry so fast, but I only use synthetics anyway.

I've also traveled with one DE, one blade, one brush and one stick. I usually decide about half an hour before departure, since that is about the time I start packing.

I use a straight razor daily at home but would never even consider taking one on vacation because of all the extra support gear needed. Just too much to futz with and pack around for me. My hat is off to those that do though.

You can make do with one straight and one strop, though that might be depending on type of beard and frequency in shaving.

I suppose you could but still just too much futzing around for me on holidays. I sacrifice little if anything in the shave quality I get from a DE/SE as compared to a straight razor having used a DE on and off for 45 years. The process of honing, maintaining and using a straight razor just gives me far more satisfaction for some reason.

I mostly use synthetic brushes anyway, so there's no real difference between what I take on holiday and what I use at home. I do mostly use Irisch Moos on holiday though, trying to eke it out.

My usual travel setup up is my Tech, or likely my MOD OC, with a couple of favourite blades and a tube of cream, Nivea/RSC or such like and my Customised Semogue 830 with a Whipped Dog Synthetic knot.
Small plastic bottle of AS.
Easy peasy simple shave.

Harris Lavender soap stick
Muhle synthetic brush in a plastic tablet bottle
50 ml bottle of aftershave, usually Aqua Velva Ice Blue
Styptic pencil
