What's in our favourite products?.

After a very interesting lunch meeting with an artisan soap, (not shaving soap, as yet) maker, she scared me to death with her stories of ingredients that are legal, but nevertheless, frightening that are contained in our products, which are slipped in under the umbrella of "parfum", for example.
Would it be possible to have a "Sticky" thread where these nasties are made public so we know what to look for when we make our choices.
There are so many excellent products out there and I, personally, would like to make choices based on safe and ethical ingredients.
If this might upset any manufacturers that support the site, (I have no idea if that is the case, btw), then I understand, but if our chemistry gurus would help I would love to see a list of the nasties that the popular soaps and creams do or don't contain.

I meant to comment on this, I think it's a good idea... but someone needs to collate the list of nasties in the first place. I don't think the mods should be expected to do that. I have some knowledge, but not enough to compile such a list.

I agree that the mods shouldn't be charged with compiling the lists, but they would need to sanction the idea and decide if it needs to be a Sticky and if any site sponsors, if there are any, would be embarrassed if their products got slagged.
Obviously, the contributions would come from the membership.

If you guys (the community) would like to compile this, we can easily sticky it.. We need a thread to sticky first though...
The site is not sponsored and therefore there are no manufacturers to upset..
You don't have to "slag" a manufacture or a product; simply list a products ingredients and highlight the potential problematic ones, it is then up to potential buyers to make their own minds up.

Sorry Rowlers, It was a bad choice, Ishould have said if one of their products is reported to have some not-very-nice ingredients in them.
Maybe it isn't such a good idea after all, forget I mentioned it.

Don't think it needs to forgotten about. We don't need to mention products, just the ingredients to avoid, it's up to individuals if they want to check the ingredients list on a product to decide if they want to go ahead and purchase or not
