the gent that bought the Wade & Butcher name and had intended to resurrect the old brand from modern materials? I thought it was nearly off the ground, and then ... nothing.
I have been thinking alot lately of having one of the custom makers produce a replica in honest Sheffield steel...

After reading the Zulu Grey vs. Greek Vermio on Identical Torreys thread. I ordered a stone, after going through the site. It does say 3-4 months for

On a slightly different note, the Spyderco straight razor is still on the cards, I believe it's based on an old Sheffield W&B razor, it was discussed over on the mentor group on the SRP last week.

I remember the lengthy thread about this- my position was that he was sub-contracting production of old designs to unknown grinders in (I believe) South Africa, so the fact that they would carry a W&B stamp was meaningless.

I have one of the hones but have not used it in years - from memory it was similar to Welsh slate - but this thread makes me want to try it again. I’m now a convert of using self slurry on natural stones but I’m not sure it will make a great difference here as the stone came with a separate part - cut from the same - for raising slurry.

On another slant, does anyone remember the "Covenant" stones that were sold by the gent from Israel? He and his wife used to go out into the Negev Desert and collect these stones. His name, if memory serves, was Tslil. Very nice folks, he once sent me a cotton based paper strop with leather ends which I still have today. I have a friend that had one of the stones.. Don't know if he still does..
