Two different blades one shave

Dear ATG,
I bought a selection of DE blades from a gentleman on eBay. He said he tests blades by shaving one side of his face with one blade and the other side of his face with a different brand of blade. He judges the blades several ways. First how the blade feels during the shave. Second, how the alum block feels on each side . Third, how the aftershave feels. Lastly, how does the face feel to the touch, both sides equal and BBS or is there stubble.
Kind of an interesting evaluation process that was new to me. I gave it a try today with Feather vs Astra. I have not used the Astra blades before.
There was no stinging on either side from the alum block or the aftershave. Both sides feel equally close. I have to say to my surprise the Astra was smoother during the shave, to me it was more comfortable.
I am guessing this test technique has been used for a very long time.

I found yellow Feathers and Astra SP to be similar, but the Astra SP was $9 per 100. I also found the Astra SP to be a long lasting blade unlike the yellow Feather.

That’s because the Astra SP is the middle of the road everyday blade, and a lot cheaper than the Feather. Astra is thicker than the Feather, and the cutting edge lasts longer than the Feather blade. Kai Stainless double edge is the thickest blade against ALL the double-edged blade brand family tree.

Feather is the thinnest blade against ALL double-edged blade families, and the Feather edge cutting is the shortest life span against ALL double-edged blade family, and also the most expensive blade as well.

Thank you for the explanation. I use Feather Artist Club blades and find they allow long term use. Perhaps they are thicker?
