The only advise I would give is to not spend a big amount on your first strop. Just get a decent leather and cotton/canvas secondary. The reason not to spend overly much on your first strop is that chances are pretty good that you will nick or cut it at some point. Then you get to learn strop repair. Once you get your stropping technique gets squared away then look at more expensive strops if you like.
