Hot Water Splash
P&B Albion Shave Soap
Wild West/Oumo Manchurian SHD
Hart Steel 7/8
Scrupleworks Veggie Tanned .. 40/60
Bloc Osma
Thayer's Witch Hazel .. Rose Petal
Pinaud's Clubman AfterShave Splash

I never thought I'd own a Hart... I thought they were a bit overpriced. An old friend from cot.be days always raved about his, so I bought this 7/8. It's a big razor.. quite a handful, but I do like heavy grinds, and it is a great shaver. Today, fresh off the Ookudo green asagi.
I always enjoy the Pinaud splashes... as a kid, when you went into a barber shop, the odor of a Pinaud splash was always pervasive..

Kamisori shaver
Bank holiday morning, this was a day for the Takami Fujikoshi shiro, made in Kochi, Japan by lone wolf blacksmith Yuji Amano. The second outing for this Jnat edge and it was a superlative shave. Tabac soap, Myrsol Limon aftershave and a puff or two of Guerlain Vetiver. Small pleasures, gents.

Cape 1000s rock! I have one with Tanifuji stamps on it.

Continuing to test the new Pierre La Lune, this time with a better razor, a Solingen import that can take the best of edges, a West Side Grinding Company ‘Lucky Strike’. This edge shaved better than the Monkey (no surprise) and smoothness wise felt like a 10k-12k Naniwa, or maybe a 16k Glass Stone. This is backwards a little from the edge that it had on it. The important thing is that both edges so far were not aggressive or ‘bitey’, and they were smooth.

Neither edge was as smooth as the best Jnat edge and I will refinish the Solingen on a Jnat tonight and try again tomorrow for a comparison. My preliminary thoughts after 2 edges that were very good before the La Lune is that it won’t beat the best 1% Jnat or 1% coticule, but may be an ideal maintenance stone for those that aren’t into honing that much. It seems like a barber hone that’s actually fine enough to deliver a comfortable shave. And maybe more strokes will get better edges out of it?
