I have a Henckels Zwillingswerk 42½ 6/8 smiley razor and have trouble getting a bevel on it.

I've waited till i acquire my first srones, and now that my King Deluxe 1000 and Naniwa Economy 3000 have arrived, i gave it a try. I used electrical tape on the spine. It seems it has never been noned, according to the spine. I combined swooping and rolling x strokes, but only managed to pass the wet thumbnail test, it couldn't shave arm hair after the King 1k. Then i went to the Naniwa Economy 3k, the same way, combining swooping and rolling x strokes, and got into trouble: it starthed to shave arm haur, but only in the middle section of the blade.
What am i doing wrong? Is it not enough or too much pressure? Or should i use rolling x strokes only?
I must note here that i succesfully went through the two stones with a non-smiling razor beforehand and it shaved arm hair after the King 1k.

Extreme sharpness is ephemeral!
Firstly make 100% sure the razor sits perfectly flat on the stone with no rocking movement on both sides, now use a large permanent maker pen and draw a thick line along the bevel on both sides, now do 3 or 4 passes using X stroke rolling pattern on both sides with a good amount of pressure, then evaluate the bevel and you will see exactly where you need to apply more or less pressure, the marker will guide you and tell where you need to go.

You might also want to try honing off the edge of the stone. By this I mean start with the heel on the stone and work up to the toe whilst moving the razor off the stone. This technique means you don’t have to make a rolling action. However, don’t tilt the razor - keep it level on the stone and use two hands to aid control if necessary. Also - light pressure.
