Skin feels prickly after shaving too close??

This used to happen to me until i switched to unscented shaving soap.
Best change i ever made!

That is a good point. Even some premium shaving soaps and creams contain Tartrazine, noted either by name or shown E102, especially for lemon or citrus scented soaps.

This can cause a severe reaction with some people, including me.

If ingredients are not not listed or available from the makers and the soap/cream is lemon or citrus scented then I have to put it back on the shelf.

Yeah, almond and citrus based scents are big offenders.

My skin reacts to all fragrances, leaving my skin sensitive, raw, red and sometimes "prickly".

Unscented soap, even a recipe that doesn't contain any moisturizing ingredients, won't dry out my skin or cause any reactions.
In fact, one of the soaps i like a lot is my MdC clone, which contains zero tallow, butters or exotic oils, only stearic acid, coconut oil and glycerine... Amazing slickness for a very close shave!

2. Use witch hazel with no alcohol for aftershave.

Witch hazel gets my vote …. has mild anti-inflammatory properties, so it can reduce razor burn and redness. Follow with a sensitive skin moisturiser

Stop chasing a BBS, they're for silly rich people trying to rule the world, just stick to darn fine comfortable relaxing irritation free shave is all you need.

You definitely need witch hazel after your shaves.

I've been shaving with a DE since 2011 and I never get a BBS shave, my combination of skin and beard just doesn't allow it. One pass with the grain and another across it gets it as close as I need it to be but without getting irritation.

To expand on the above, my stubble's coarse and shaving against the grain hurts as the wiry little suckers get pushed backwards before getting cut, then I get exactly the feeling you describe when they start growing back. After a few attempts back in my earlier days I realised that chasing BBS and, in my case, shaving against the grain just wasn't worth the discomfort.

But, why are we getting so many shaving sets? Why are we haunting the forums? Why discuss so much about angle, technique, pressure? Buy a razor that costs 500$ dollars in discount? Get a brush for 300$, eh?

And finally....why the hell the forum is called "ATG"
