Trust me, moose are deceptively fast when they are chasing you or running across the road in front of your car. This was one of the slow encounters.

Other than birds, insects and squirrels the only wildlife we see here are belligerent raccoons. I live in Queens, NY (on the north shore of geographical Long Island); haven’t seen a deer around here in probably 50 years. For sure, I never saw a moose up close and personal like that.
If you are driving in an area that is known to have moose it can get too up close and personal very quickly. Every year we have collisions with moose on the roads up here and also resulting fatalities, human that is. Surprisingly, they are hard to see in time even in daylight to avoid a collision. At night you stand little chance of avoiding a collision. This happened on the Trans Canada Highway in our area.
