Do you use a shaving app?

Our friends @TATARA RAZORS have been developing a new app which launched this week. They don't just do pass arounds... I was one of their testers. Shavespace was designed to help you organise your shave den, share your SOTD and track blade use on your phone.

The app has been made for iOS and Android - and works on older phones like mine! Available in all the usual places to download and it's completely free.

Do take a look if you are interested.

Thank you, @Masamune ! It’s an app for all brands and all users, not just Tatara products. We already have more than 4,000 products in the database, and of course you’ll find Tatara there as well.

Hope you enjoy it! Please give it a try (no payment needed) and let us know if there are any features or products you’d like us to add or remove.

Had a quick look … allows you to add razors but not their baseplates which is key, then tried to add my Wolfman WR1, 2 and 3 which weren’t listed so stopped at that point … and the razors it listed it would be great to have more info about them.

Hi João, thanks for the prompt response, my comment was more an observation as you know that there are quite a few razors that are the same “name” but behave very differently once you factor in baseplate changes in gap and blade exposure.

I was just using Wolfman as an example on your app — I’d guess there are 4 core head types, each with multiple baseplates, plus open comb / solid bar variations, so in reality it quickly becomes 30–40+(ish) distinct configurations … a pretty onerous task!

I’m not suggesting you manually add everything one-by-one via user requests, as that would clearly become unmanageable. More that it might be worth thinking about how the app structures this … i.e. treating baseplate as selectable attributes rather than fixed single entries per razor. That way users can build or filter configurations without you having to maintain every permutation as a separate listing.

Hi @Changr, @hdb3326 thank you for your feedback and for checking the app

@Changr Wolfman is indeed a good example here (and Charcoal as well), since they don’t have a single razor model but rather multiple possible combinations. In those cases, it becomes very difficult to name or classify every variation.

However, you can request a product, name it and keep it as a temporary item and use it in your DEN, which is what matters most in these cases (The variation might not exist but you can add it anyway). We’ll continue looking for ways to handle these rare but tricky situations.

I’m sure you’ll already find many of the products available in the app 😉
