Have to say, Bernd's are clearly the most meticulously composed knots around. Kudos.

Who else of the known brush maestros tie the knots themselves btw? (I believe the coming L&L/Declaration brushes will be.)

I have an extreme flat top in 3-band Silvertip. Because of the shape of the knot I had it made smaller than my preferred knot size (22-24 with loft 48-52), at 19X42. The knot feels lovely and soft with absolutely no scritch, prickliness or scrub. The only negative I have is the handle is small, but not so small that it bothers me. I think an extreme flat top should be in every wet shaver's arsenal.

    After a coupe of months...

I ordered a PK Unique knot and a 400 Silvertip.

    Firstly, the PK.
The knot is Goldilocks. Pure and simple. Softness; backbone and size; just right.
The handle is a nice shape, but just a bit too small. I have size 8.5" hands, so only medium but I'd like this handle 10-20% bigger in all dimensions. Then I think it would suit my tastes to a T.

    The 400.
This is, by quite some margin, the best handle I've ever used. I love it, it's even better than the SImpsons Captain. I find it very comfortable and I never get lather over my fingers.
The knot is a fraction too small and not dense enough. I love the Shavemac 3-band silvertip but it needs to be dense (I suspect I have the best spec for this hair already (28/50 fan)), however, for days when I don't want to even feel the tips on my face this is the brush to go for. It's as soft as a Plisson synthetic.

With hindsight what would I order?
400 with Unique knot. Those of you that ordered one - please feel smug :notworthy:
However, if I had the perfect knot in the perfect handle they'd be no reason to buy any more...

You better believe it. The 400 handle is the most aesthetically pleasing and ergonomic handle I have come across. The shavemac unique 2-band sivertip in a fan-shape is, well, uniquely brilliant.

All this love for the 400 with the unique knots.

To think that I almost traded mine off for a razor the other day.

Mine is a bulb and has opened up nicely with use.

I'm glad you guys like your 400s. If these beauties came in two resins I wouldn't think twice.
