"Saybrooke" Butterscotch "31", a premium brush created for Macy Associates, marked "Made in England" and representing the golden age of British export craftsmanship.

I have a strong feeling this brush was made by Simpson at Nimmer Mills during the best years of the Somerset era.

The handle is hand-lathed from Catalin (phenolic resin). It features a deep butterscotch patina that has developed over 70+ years.

The knot is a high-density 2-band (?) Best Badger with a distinct russet-colored lower third and fine, untrimmed tips. This vintage grade is superior IMO compared to modern best badger. Great backbone, finest tips. A perfect face-lathering brush best used with hard soaps.
  • Knot: 24mm
  • Loft Height: 46mm
  • Shape: Bulb
  • Handle: 54mm
  • Total Height: 100mm
