Polished 6S

A couple of months ago I watched a Razor Emporium video where they had plated a Rockwell razor with precious metal “to make it smoother “

I thought about having a go on the cheap and did a quick search but couldn’t find any information. Having very limited mobility after a leg operation gave me plenty of sofa time but actually it only took a couple of hours tops and I could have done it quicker than that but wanted to make sure each stage was perfect before moving on.

I still don’t really know why I did it as I don’t think my 6S (favourite razor) wasn’t smooth anyway?

Basically I’ve polished the surfaces that contact your face during a shave using Micro-Mesh (very posh wet and dry type cloth backed abrasive)

I went from 1500 up to 6000 grit and am very pleased with the results.

I did the very edge of the top cap (I may do the whole cap at some point?) and the angled facets of the bottom plate. I just did the 2&4 plate as that’s my most used one.

It’s hard to photograph with my phone but in real life it catches the light beautifully.

When I first used it afterwards I thought it made it more aggressive but that could have just been physcosomatic?

I can’t tell if it gives a smoother shave either but I like the way it looks

I polished the top cap to 6000 grit with the Micro-Mesh yesterday and I’m very pleased with the result.

I’m sure my shave was smoother?

Again it’s hard to capture with my phone camera but the contrast between the bead blasted and polished finishes is great.

It's along the lines of what I think, Stork done with one. They flattened off the underside of the base plate and polished it.
I'll try and find a pic...
Think I saw that pic but didn’t have a reference to what it looked like originally

This looks really cool and it could be done with 1/3 baseplate, which is really only usable on the #3 side. This would also reduce the weight a little bit, which for me is a tad heavy.
Nice.
