First of all, I have to tell that I'm not really into PreShaves at all, I have tons of them just for science but never thought they actually work.
When I saw the Cube 2.0 and the ingredients list (I will post pics later) decided to give it a try. It is said that this product helps a lot with slickness and boosts the lather. So I took a less slick soap to see how it works.
Soap was Wilkinson Black Tub.
I washed my face before the shave with the cube. Rubbed it a few seconds on the beard and to my surprise nothing happened. I then added some water and tried to lather with my fingers. Boom! It exploded and somehow felt like a shave soap itself. It felt so slick that I dropped the damn thing twice in my sink even when it was dry! I got the Menthol one, it was powerful and woke up the skin. Also, my eyes were crying. I'm not sensitive to Menthol, but it is powerful.
I added the soap on top of it and started the shave. I used a Feather #3 shave in my Merkur 37c Slant.
1. The lather was already denser than normal, hydrated and there was a feeling of crazy slickness all around.
2. I'm not sure how it helped with protection, because the 37c is quite mild razor. But it was like I was moving an ice skate on ice.
I don't know how, but the slickness remained after the first pass too. The face was like a blade never touched it, although I overdid with it.
Post shave was also wonderful, not dry, thanks to the butters & oils it contains. It shares most of them with the CK-6 formula. (I have ordered an Astra Planeta soap too).
Overall, if the performance was like this with a medium to low quality soap, I can imagine what will happen with a better performer.
Get some of this, even you don't like PreShaves at all. I was impressed.
