Phoenix and Beau Sovereign update

Hi everyone,

Given that there has some been some recent discussion regarding our new sovereign base, I thought I might post a few points for your awareness and reading pleasure, namely:
  1. Whilst we wait for our cosmetic safety assessor to complete their work on the range, we're viewing April as our month for release
  2. The size and format of each soap will be approximately 60g and each one will come packaged in bathroom resistant recyclable cardboard that'll have our artwork and copy printed directly to it
  3. We haven't finalised price but given they'll be roughly half the size of our original soaps, they will, needless to say, be cheaper
  4. The ingredients list is so good you could almost eat it and contains the following: aloe vera juice, stearic acid, beef tallow, lanolin, goats milk, coconut milk, mango butter, cupuacu butter, kokum butter, shea butter, castor oil, vegetable glycerine, safflower oil, tamanu oil, camelina oil, babassu oil, meadowfoam oil, grapeseed oil, avocado oil, allantoin, tussah silk and sodium lactate
  5. Feedback from our testers and those that we've shared it with elsewhere, e.g. Kevy Shaves, Jack Daniels of Karve Shaving Co, etc has been very positive. Like Kevy, Jack also has his own YouTube channel and will upload a video in time, however he got in touch to share the following with me; "So I've put sovereign to good use over the past couple of days and have been testing it at the same time as Grooming Dept Kairos 4.13 and Talbot 3.0 and it's easily as good as they are and they are elite. Some of the changes I immediately noticed are water tolerance (much, much higher) and slickness in both primary and residual has been massively increased. Something the old base didn't do is leave a really fatty protective layer in between passes (I think that and a great post-shave are two sides of the same coin) and this really does. Overall, I'm blown away at the improvements you've made. I've used every new soap base, WK's Siero, Milksteak from Declaration Grooming and Zingari's Sego and it competes with them all."
  6. Kevy got in touch with me to say "I love it. An improvement? Definitely. Superb". He was also kind enough to take the time to produce the following video:

So there we are, that's everything for now. Please let me know if you've any questions.

Kindest regards,

Kerry.

Something very much to look forward to for Spring. Well done Kerry & Sarah for forging ahead with recyclable packaging. Kevy’s video perfectly showcased the amazing performance of this new base. Roll on April!!.

Sounds good, looking forward to the Issey Miyake one.

Will there be matching aftershaves and/or balms to go with these? Are you thinking of smaller sizes for those too?

The cardboard box with the label printed directly onto it sound clevers and intriguing. Many of us will want to put the puck into an old plastic container, it may be too late to change for this release but, for those of us who do this, a loose label in the parcel would work rather than having it printed onto the cardboard.

This:okay:
I always (if it's not a sample) load from the container and no matter how good the soap is (and I'm sure Sovereign vill be superb) this could actually stop me from buying it.

In due course, yep.

We're still looking at the cost implications of this 👍 .

It'll certainly slow me down until I’ve used something and have an empty container for it.
100% understood. That said we're hoping you give Sovereign a go and perhaps, when you're able to, can dedicate an old tub or bowl to its use :).
Personally I am not impressed by fanboy Youtube video-marketing :)
Fair play to you @Nisse , I respect your views. My own view is that I would describe neither as fanboys of Phoenix and Beau, but to each their own. You may or may not have known that Karve Shaving Co carry a small line of our products and, the cynical view could be that it's in their interest to talk up a product that they'll potentially stock (n.b. we don't currently know if they will or won't want Sovereign). That is entirely their prerogative and only known to them. My own take on Jack's comments are that they're simply given from a position of someone who has happened upon a good product. We knew we had something good with the Sovereign formula and to be put on the same level as the soaps he alludes to was hugely encouraging.

Anyhow, it doesn't overly matter what I say as ultimately it'll fall to you to decide on if you want to spend your hard earned on anything that we make, or not. Hopefully you'll not have been put off by the sharing of these views and will give Sovereign a go :okay: .

I'm waiting for it Kerry. I'm curious how it does perform.

That said, you crazy man, did you put Cupuacu Butter along with Shea Butter?! That is just impressive! All the ingredients list is superb for my taste, but man.. You have reached the top levels.

I will definitely write a review on this one.
