Last year my wife and I visited the Pasteurs near the Empire State Building. I had heard a lot about the store and I must say that it exceeded my expectations. To say I was gobsmacked by it is an understatement, I was overwhelmed. I‘ve never seen such a selection; crowded shelves reaching nearly to the ceiling. My wife dragged me away kicking and screaming finally, but I did snag a bottle of Harris Arlington aftershave (my favourite) and a Harris Sandalwood soap stick. If I’d stayed any longer who knows what else I would’ve come away with.

No artisan soaps Rufus?

Nope, I don’t use soap much, other than a stick when I travel. I’ve tried various types and makes of soaps, including artisan-made, but I prefer creams. I did like some of the Italian soft soaps and Haslinger’s soaps when they contained tallow, but I find creams much more to my liking.

Excellent.

But when you can, get a tub of McDuff's soap from Alberta. Fantastic stuff

Thanks for the tip. Although I live in Canada, Ontario not Alberta, I’d not heard of their products. Quite a number of the shaving soaps, which are soft contain beef tallow. In that regard, I think the Prairie Rum Runner and Wild Rose Country will be worth a punt in the new year. I must say, though, that their product descriptions are a bit arcane.
