Parental traits?

I really didn't think when I created this post I would bring up such sad memories and tough times for many, maybe I was a little naive because I did have a very nice childhood, but my Grandfather was a kind Man I never in all my life ever saw him losing control or raise a hand to myself or my Brother or ever get into a heated argument with my Grandmother, I'm very pleased to say this is a trait I also inherited.

I think all those that have been posted have had positive outcomes in the end where we each have learnt to be 'better' or we wouldn't be able to recognise them as negative. Whilst I don't have great feelings toward my parents I still believe I have a great life and am a very lucky and happy man.

Speaking for myself, I don’t see my childhood as sad or really bad. When I’ve fully open up about my childhood in the past, it seems to sadden the friends I’ve told more. Which is why I’m now vague about what happened.

We can’t control how other people treat us, but what we can control is how we respond and deal with it. I was very lucky, in that at a young age I gave forgiveness to my Mum and Dad. Without realising it at the time, by forgiving them it released me from the anger, animosity and psychological damage of having to continually deal with it as I aged and further developed.
