Owner of the Japanese Anso stamps.

Here are a few photos with a little info from my good friend from Japan.

Meeting Mr Morio Sakamoto in his house from Toyohashi. He is the current owner of the Asano stamps, inherited from his father Misao Sakamoto who purchased the Mikawa mine in 1953 and later in 1961 founded the Ichikukai Association together with Kosuke Iwasaki and Nagayuki Asano. It was an honour and a pleasure to meet such a modest and kind person and talk for hours about razors, Jnats and Mikawa Nagura.

I love the picture where he's holding the flat whetstone, and you are trying to explain to him that he needs a convex grinding stone.

It’s great to see these pictures, and to virtually ‘meet’ the man who stamped my three Asano nagura stones. By the way, that’s a big Botan! I bet that’s destined for sword honing.
