LOL, is the Dovo a stainless version? I had one in once to hone and it wouldn't hold an edge at all - pure crap. If it was mine I would have returned it immediately.
I don't t know.It just sucks.Have it for about 9 years .120 euro blade and not better than a 5 euro Gold Dollar .😭
I never use it.
All my vintage razors are carbon ones.Been using some of them for almost 40 years and they still are superior.

I imagine that 40 years ago you would have been in a very tiny minority of people still using straits, so congratulations. Do you mind telling what you sharpen them on? I assume there was not the choice of man-made stones that are available now so I’m interested to know what you used and whether that has changed over the years.

I used a stone my dad used for his chisels. He was a woodwork er.I used oil on the stone.
Nowadays I use a few Naniwa' s(1000,3000 and 8000).
For finishing I use a synthetic 12000.
When honing I mix them up . I rub stones together to create a slurry. So rubbing a 3000 against the 8000 for instance. Then adding water to delute the mixture.Works for me.
And I use a homemade strop.
