Some time ago found pack of MWF in some corner of bathroom in closed metal container. Think it wasn't used for more then a year , performances was top notch bat smell is what putted me of. Anyway friend wanted to try so sent him, and he couldn't make decent leather no matter what he tried , he sent it to another friend with same results, afcourse I had to brag that I could an mess with them just a little bit [emoji16]
Today I tried it and soap is no good anymore, no protection, slicnes... I wanted to finish shave with it so end result was lot of red spots iritation....
So I'm curious what could happen to this soap, was in bathroom in metal container all the time?

Try soaking it in hot water overnight, Raso, and see if that resuscitates it?

Can’t say why it would be performing badly. Not sure if fat/tallow loses its properties after a certain time?

Forum GOD!
This soap can dry out and be difficult to lather when dry. Put some warm water on it and let it sit for a few minutes and see if that helps.

Yep tried both method without success, also made holes in it and then ad water nothing changed.

Only other suggestions I have: (1) to grate the soap and pack it in a container; (2) superlather it with a cream; (3) add some liquid glycerin when making lather; or (4) use it as a bath soap.

Your abandonment of your puck has angered the lathering gods, MWF to be specific. (like Zeus on top and other minor gods. or Odin)
i keep mine constantly humid in a soup mug w/lid but if i go more than a week without using it i find that angers the lather monster under the puck (it creeps up the mug, holding and taming the lather monster under the puck and doling out heavenly lather in manageable increments from the top)

i saw someone who completely soaked their puck (which made it fit nicely in the ceramic dish, coincidence?) for 24 hours when they first get it, and then have no issues lathering afterward. seems like i stumbled on the same method in a round about way.

a humid mitchells puck, is a happy mitchells puck.

I also figured that this was problem (anger of lathering goods) so I presented them sacrifice in MWF so hoping that they are now pleased and next MWF will be lathering like a dream for many years.
