Help - Razor Head not accepting handles

Hi gents,

I posted in the El Jefe thread here; http://www.atgshaving.com/threads/el-jefe-se-razor.3782/page-2#post-77117

About my experience with trying different handles with the El Jefe head... Now I just accepted that the head perhaps doesn't work with different handles.

That was until another member on here tried the head with a couple of the same handles as I did and his worked!

This leads me to believe that I may have some issues on the thread of my El Jefe razor head... Has anyone got any ideas on how I might be able to smooth out the thread on my El Jefe so it accepts some more handles?

I can take some close up pics (as best I can with my mobile) tonight, if that helps?

Is there a visible defect on the El Jefe head threads?
I would be more inclined to think that there are slight variations in how deep the handles are drilled and not a problem with the head threads per se. Just a guess from many miles away though.
Perhaps you can ask the other member to (roughly) measure the depth of his handle(s) drilling that work, by inserting a toothpick -for the lack of any other precision measurement instrument. You can also do the same with your handles that fit and these that do not fit to see if there is a difference in drilling depth. I would start from there

Thanks YMMV, it isn't the depth that is the issue though I don't think. To illustrate;

On the Assassin handle, the head will not even screw onto the handle "one turn" I attempt to turn it and it just feels like it's hit a block that it doesn't want to go past. The same handle used by another forum member fit perfectly... This is what leads me to believe it is actually the thread that is the problem, but it's confusing as I have two handles that actually fit onto the head no problem, smoothly turn and fit snug

If there is no visible defect in the head threads (esp. at the beginning of the thread) and you do not have access to someone with equipment to make such measurements, then your next move could be to try the head with an iKon handle -if you haven't done so. I guess an iKon handle should fit fine on an iKon head.

That being said, it wasn't the exact same handle, just the same model. I.E I haven't physically sent him my handle, he also has an Assassin handle that he is uses... You'd think that handles from the same manufacturer would have the same drilling depths?

I'll try and get a couple of pictures on here tonight to show the thread

Also the head does fit perfectly on two of my Windrose handles, I just can't work out why it isn't working on others!

I would think that handles from the same manufacturer should normally have the same drilling dephts and the same thread size, but I do not know if this is always the case
