Have a little help from our friends

Thought it would be nice to share some stories of how we have helped others appreciate wet shaving.

I started my best friends on the journey, when they became my best men. Essentially an EJ89, Gillette Tech, Palmolive and two boars alongside a tuck of Astra SP blades. I thought they make take to it so start of small.

A year in and they still use the gear occasionally enjoying it when they do. So a year on from the wedding I decided to step up their kit a little. Since receiving the above gifts they have bought more blades and soap but no hardware. So I gave one friend who has light growth the Oristo DE with Eufros Fougere and an MS 30mm alongside some PP Neroli Portofino. The other guy who has heavy growth got an ATT R2-Atlas handle, MS 30mm, Eufros Tobacco and PP Venetian Bergamot.

I am excited to see how they get on but very glad I could share this hobby with those close to me. Who knows I'm the future it could become as enjoyable for them as it is for me.

Uh, as a deathbed Buddhist if I share my magnanimity there is no merit. But then, this effort came from the generosity of several shavers. Living in 'The most powerful and richest country in history' I see homeless people daily living rough. I assembled a shaving kit for a fellow service veteran I became friendly with queing in line at the recycling center cashing in aluminum, glass and plastic beverage containers. He told me one of the greatest humiliations was the inability to bathe and keep groomed. I had an excess of kit and it was easy collecting a Jaeger, hundred Derbies, synthetic brush and a half dozen pucks of soaps. In all honesty everything given later was a collection of product people didn't care for. But the eventual 17 total vets I built kits for
thought product we mock a treasure. It eventually became part of a local veteran's charity group effort. They had an opening for a part time employee and I asked for it; my income precarious enough. One of the leader's sons was out of high school and 'thinking about enlisting.' I heard all these people saying 'thankyou for your service' and half expected a ticker tape parade and petitioning Congress for the CMH. He got the job

So far, I've only given two razors ( a Weishi 9306FL and a QShave/Ming Shi 2000s adjustable) and a synthetic brush to one friend of mine, a cheap shavette and straight to another friend who said he'd been thinking of converting to straights so he could get a feel for it and a Dorco PL-602 and a synthetic brush to a flatmate because I think they make for a very good starter kit, especially as the Dorco is easily an adjustable.

Although I feel like a scrooge compared to Nishy and KAV now. :-/

Oh and a Baili BD176 clone and Supply Provision Single Edge to my dad, with two different RazoRock 24mm brushes and some shaving creams, 100 Personna blue blades and 100 Personna injector blades.

It's the act of giving my friend, enlightening others, it need not be expensive kit. I'm sure what I gave out will come back or even something different. I'm really just trying to keep shaving talk entertaining between my friendship groups

I have brought three converts into the wetshaving fold. I gave my brother in law a Schick Krona, blades, an Old Spice mug, soap, and a brush. I started a co-worker and my Niece's fiancé out with Gillette Flare Tips and blades. So far they are all still using the gear and happy they converted.
