Flags at half mast?

A quick question for any of you bright sparks..
Forgive me if I am missing anything really obvious. Why was the Union flag at half mast yesterday, April the 28th 2022?
Specifically on a government building.

Saw it yesterday when back in blighty and it's puzzled me. Today all flags are back to full mast.

Yes, it has been around a fair long time up here. I gag though when I see the WCB, Workers Compensation Board, mentioned in the same breath as the Day of Morning.

I wasn’t aware it had spread to the UK, I’d never heard of it.

I think it is relatively new in the UK, fostered by health and safety professionals who have taken over this Day to further increase the value of their work. The original purpose of the day was to remember those who have lost their lives at work as opposed to the slight deviation of valuing health and safety at work.
