Next to the Elm which has had massive growth in just two weeks

Is it dead for sure though ? Different case but, we have a Bottle brush plant in the garden. It looked dead to I cut it back to the base ready to be dug out of its large pot. Being a bit lazy I left it and ………it’s grown back with loads of new growth and looks better than ever. Mrs Saint likes orchids, there is a few on the window seal, they look dead every so often after flowering. But left, watered etc they soon spring back to life.

It’s been a couple of weeks looking decidedly unwell and over that time slowly getting worse rather than improving. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Around the same time the Elm took a turn for the worse but has slowly improved
