Best of 2017

I got this idea from Nick Shaves and decided it would be nice to compile a best of 2017 list and hopefully everyone else could do the same. I have primarily considered performance for this gear and this is what consistently gives me excellent Shaves. I have divided it into different sections. These are what I would consider the best in each section.

High End Badger Brush: Paladin Lotus Lemon Drop 26mm 2CSLE4 Select Badger, honorable mention Shavemac Unique and Morris & Forndran Finest.

Low Cost Badger Brush: River Valley Trading (RVT) Brown Marble 24mm Finest, honorable mention Elite Razor Manchurian and SOC Badger (Elite is more expensive so can’t take top spot).

Boar Brush: PantaRei Omega Watch, no other Boar brush competes including Semogue and Omega.

Synthetic: Plisson L’occitane

Mass produced Soap: Castle Forbes Lime, honorable mention Mitchell’s Woolf Fat and Haslinger (or is this Artisan?)

Artisan Soap: Uncle Jon Shaving Soap Tahitian Dream, honorable mention Stirling Executive Man and Shaver Heaven

Low cost soap: Arko Shave stick, honorable mention Lea Shave stick and Figaro

Straight Razor: Eiko Japanese Razor, smoother and sharper than all my other razors including W&B, Tanifuji etc.

Safety Razor: Merkur 34c

DE Blades: Astra Superior Platinum, honorable mention Personna Blue and Derby Green

Aftershave Balm: fino SOOTHE, honorable mention Stirling Executive Man

honorable mention; SOC 2-Band Finest, great brush & could be a LOT more expensive than it is.

Low Cost Badger Brush: Actually a mixed hair, Omega mixed-midget, my travel brush. When broken-in, an awesome performer, up there with the best & a tenner!

Boar Brush: Semogue 830, red acrylic handle, great knot 'nuff-said.

Synthetic: n/a, don't like them (on my own, I know)

Mass produced Soap: Haslinger

Artisan Soap: Vreto

Low cost soap: Lea Shave stick, honorable mention Palmolive stick

Shout out to @Northam Saint (I think it was) who put me onto the Kangaroo Ball Sack coin holder. All joking aside, hands down the best buy of 2017 for me, I love it.

Being new to DE shaving and going a bit crazy with the purchasing it' hard to choose what is my favourite as nothing has had a prolonged use. Favourite scent for soap and splash has came from Stachesoapworks stud. Great scent of sweet tabacco. Definitely be looking for more suggestions of a nice tabacco scents for soaps, splash and balms.
