hello

Does anybody use one of these. A battery drainage problem has reared its head after not being a problem for a fews months. I'm off to Wales this weekend so I dont want to get stranded so was thinking about getting one of these
Halfords do one for £40, charges battery and jump starts.
I'm just nervous about wasting my money, would it be shite at that price?

Yes I bought and used one (Sealey RS131 ) in anger after leaving the boot and doors open (interior lights) for most of the day. It looks a little light on cold cranking ampage but as long as it isn't a large diesel you're trying to start you should be okay, it is only another battery in a case after all.

Good point. Its only a 1.8 so should be okay then.
If the battery is completely flat then I think the halfords one would struggle.

I have a power pack like you show I brought last year for my mercedes c200 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00YDZR3X0/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 its the best decision I ever made. Can't comment on the one you posted as its different make. From what I know if its a poorly manufactured pack you risk it blowing up lol. So look at the reviews but don't go halfords.

Yeah I usually dont go halfords but just seemed okay. I am dubious about it tbh.
That looks simular to the one I posted. I take it you've used yours then? If so did it start first go with it.

I've used it on my 2L mercedes and my wife's 1L toyota both with no issue. Its bloody amazing. Look for my make version if you can as it is held in a metal frame sceletal though out the housing so it keeps you safer if it was to get faulty or expand or short.

This may be a long post.

Auto batteries are like the planet. They have a core, mantle and surface. (not called those)

The surface charge in thin and burns off if not kept hot. When you deplete the core, you junk the battery.
We sell batteries, chargers and tenders at our shop.

You jump it, and it still be have no core charge, With a drainage problem I would suggest a battery Tender Pro.
Its a baby charger, takes about 3 days to bring a dead battery back, Once it does, it goes into tender mode, and only charges it, as it is depleted.

Auto battery surface charge needs 10 amps, the surface .7-2 amps.
We use two machines, a charger 10/2 amp, and then tenders to keep them hot.

My Harley is 11 years old, it has had the same battery in it since it was new. I changed it out last year just to be safe.
The old one is in our shop, on a tender, and when we have to feed live 12v to something, we that same Harley battery.

The Mrs 2005 car with 186k miles on it had the OEM battery in it when the timing belt broke. That was in 2017.
The new car gets the tender one weekend a month.
