Barrister & Mann gives production to Stirling

I’m sorry for Will’s family. But what an interesting development! It’s good that B&M are continuing to make soap. Will has done a lot to push boundaries, educate and share his knowledge, as well as be a thoroughly decent sort. I hope everything goes well.

I might consider a flutter when and if the US gives its head a wobble. Until then, my spennies are going elsewhere.

Sterling has so many offerings today, what does B & M offer that is so special?

Ask because I do no know.🤣
The base. Omnibus is a better developed formula from Stirling, who hasn't changed his soap base for years.

With that said, Stirling's good soap and gives great shaves. Better than Wholly Kaw (Siero, Crème Fraiche), which is overpriced (although the newest formula is 165gr and much cheaper).

I have discussed a lot with Will. He is a great person, very ethical and knows a LOT about wet shaving.
But.... His soaps are somekind finicky, need tons of water to perform and not everyone is @p.b to know how to use them 🤣

Personally, Omnibus, Ultima & older formulas from Grooming Dept are my favourites.

Make sure to bloom it first and load more than you think you need

IMHO & My World Soap is Soap, if it Lathers, Saturates Beard, Soften Beard, and last provide a Lubricant Surface to allow Razor to Glide & Slide on any Soap, Cream, or Croap is a flipping winner.

ElCheapo Special I am using since 1/1/2026.:bravo::thumbsdown:

In my experience all soap is NOT created equal and nor do they perform equally, so keeping B&M going is a huge relief for me (as @Randy points out - I’m a fan).

With this move both Stirling and B&M benefit from increased purchasing power and shared logistics, and B&M lowers its cost of production. Hopefully all these changes benefit all customer and both companies. I’m sure there’ll be no change in quality based on the care Will takes over his products and the reputation Rod and Mandy have.

The one from the image you osted is exactly what you've said. Both Barister & Mann and Stirling, and most other artisans are more than that. You'll see for yourself when you try them out.

I love the Stirling scents, and at one point was able to buy the EDC/EDT (I forget which) in the UK, but no more. B&M are wonderful too, and had seemed to have better distribution in the UK.

My big hope from all this is that Stirling ends up with better distribution, and I can buy the EDC/EDT over here.
