Anyone know of anything about the Besser Moustache Razor?

Hey Folks,
Been looking for any info on a certain razor for sometime, alas my quest has been fruitless. The Besser was made in Japan and is almost the spitting image of the Merkur Moustache Razor. It's unclear which one came first being that Besser seems to be absent from shavedom history! I can only assume it came after and the name "Besser" is mocking Merkur, being that it's German for BETTER...yet it was made in Japan. Any info on this little mystery would be wonderful!

I can't help you with the Besser, but I can tell you that while the Merkur is a cool looking little thing, the blades are sub standard for shaving over and around my mustache. Can't speak for anyone else's.

I agree. I understand that they are actually corn razors and work fine for that purpose. I have found that they are poor for actually shaving whiskers.

I agree about the quality of the Merkur blade. I will say NOS Besser blades still kick ass! When I contacted Merkur about this issue they didn't seem to interested in changing anything and told be it's because they are hand snapped off the sheets...sigh.

Hmmmm, I have to disagree. Merkur does make a corn razor but it's a different shape and takes different blades. The moustache razor is labeled as just that, a moustache razor. Thanks for your input!

I have one of these Merkur mustache razors.

I thought you had something like this which I have always understood to be a Corn Razor

Using these blades.

What do you actually have? Can you post pics. I've seen your requests going back four years, but can't seem to find any pics.

I have the above Moustache Razor, and yes that second razor is what I was referring to as the Corn Razor with the different blades. However, the razor this post is about is a Besser, which looks practically identical to the Merkur Moustache Razor. Sorry for the confusion!
